Comments: New owners often mistake the strange colouration on new leaves to be disease, but this is in fact Edema, a common sight on Ficus lyrata. It is caused by inconsistent watering schedules and is the result of the plant taking in too much water causing the new cells to burst and die. The leaf will often grow to cover these spots. Edema can be resolved by altering the watering regiment.
Toxicity: Sap is irritating to eyes and skin. Causes stomach pains when ingested.
