Comments: Considered to be the king of indoor tropicals and a must-have to many houseplant owners. The matures leaves feature deep fenestrations and holes. The botanical name is derived from the fruit, which some say tastes like all tropical fruits combined into one but early consumption before ripening can cause strong irritation to the inside of the mouth. The fruit also expels a pungent smell as it ripens, but a fully ripe fruit will not smell. Hence, the Delicious Monster was born.
Toxicity: Intense burning and swelling of the lips, tongue, and throat, difficulty speaking. Nausea, vomiting, drooling, and diarrhea may also occur. Frequent contact with sap may cause skin irritation.
