Key Thatch Palm, Leucothrinax morrisii, also known as Silver Thatch Palm, and not to be confused with Florida Silver Palm, grows very slowly to 15 to 25 ft.in height. Its leaves are stiff fan-shaped, pale green above, silver or green beneath, about 2-3 ft. in diameter. Its flowers are showy and white, turning yellow and the fruit is a round white drupe.
Like most thatch palms, it is very tolerant of wind, salt, poor soil, and drought, but does not tolerate any but the lightest of frost. It is ideal for small areas or pots, where it can be brought inside.
