Common Names: Obi Nymph Palm Tree
Family: Arecaceae
Origin: Moluccas island and New Guinea
Light: Bright, indirect light
Water: Moist soil
Humidity: 30%+
Temperature: 20°C - 30°C
Soil: well drained but moist, rich organic mix
Height: Approx. 7'
Nutrients: To help establish your new Obi Nymph Palm, fertilize sparingly at least 6 inches away from the base, tri-annually with a slow time released product. Unfertilized they will tend to grow at a slower pace. The heavy salts in cheaper fertilizers will damage the roots and possibly kill the tree.
Common Pests: Mealybugs, Aphids, Spider Mites, Scale, Thrips.
Common Issues: Spider mites are the most common pest that can attack indoor palm plants. Keeping the humidity level high in the air around the plant will help to fend off spider mites, and will also benefit the plant. Leaves may brown in direct sunlight or strong drafts.
Comments: This is a beautiful addition to any outdoor spot with partial shade and good protection from the wind. They can also be kept indoors in a very bright spot or a southern facing window.
Toxicity: Safe.
